Terrence Johnson, 18, of West Haven, was arrested sometime between Oct. 31 and Nov. 3, and charged with murder, West Haven Police said.
The charge against Johnson stems from an Oct. 31 “serious” assault in the area of Washington Avenue and Elm Street in West Haven, police said. On that day, the victim was transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The victim died due to the injuries on Nov. 1, police said.
Johnson is being held on a $1 million bond.
Citations were also issued related to the homicide. Three people who allegedly spray-painted a 9/11 mural with messages regarding the killing have been cited for vandalism, police said.
“The West Haven Police Department mourns any loss of life to our community,” police said in a statement, “but we will not allow destruction of property in any form.”
